As part of the national network of Community Action Agencies (CAAs), The Community Action Agency of Western Connecticut (formerly The Committee of Danbury (CACD)) has a long history of helping low-income families and individuals overcome poverty and improve self-sufficiency. CAAWC is one of eleven Community Action Agencies in Connecticut and serves Northwestern Fairfield and Litchfield counties. It was established in 1965 and has been providing services to the community for close to fifty years.
CAAWC is a fixture in its service delivery area and provides a broad array of services intended to help low-income individuals and families improve self-sufficiency and move out of poverty.
The mission of the Community Action Agency of Western Connecticut is to provide social services to low-income individuals living in western Connecticut in order to stabilize and improve their lives.
